I am lucky once again to be nominated in this year's MEFA Awards! The following stories have been nominated:

Choosing: A short piece. Three choices, three destinies. Three leaders - Dwarf, Elf, and Man - choose the messengers to send to Imladris, thus choosing the fates of three who would become part of the Fellowship.

Answering the Call: A series of vignettes in which each member of the Fellowship hears the call of the Ring - and answers it. My take on the big What-If, pursuing the possibility for each character to take the Ring.

With Hope and Without Hope: My newest story, a WIP. One decision made differently - the Three Hunters run through that second night of their chase after the Orcs rather than rest - and everything changes. Well, not everything. They're merely captured by the Orcs like Merry and Pippin. Not in the plan. One decision changed doesn't change one's destiny, however. Once captured, they all struggle to return to their task.

You may find all these stories at HASA, Stories of Arda, or ff.net

I'm proud - and relieved - to announce that I've begun posting a new Lord of the Rings story:

With Hope and Without Hope

It's quite the adventure as the Three Hunters get captured on their chase after the Orcs that capture Merry and Pippin.

You can find the story at ff.net, Stories of Arda, and HASA. Look under the title name or under docmon.

I have been lucky enough to receive an award for my story "Aragorn's Moment." It got 2nd place in the Category of Men, Eriador or Rivendell! And I have a shiny new banner to show for it!
Yes, that's what I've been doing. Writing. I will soon have a full-length story out. Keep an eye out for the announcement!

I have been quite absent lately, but I thought I'd post a couple of banners for awards I've been nominated for!

The Mellon Chronicles Awards have nominated my story "Bridges of Stone." Here's the banner!

The Middle-earth Fanfiction Awards have nominated "Aragorn's Moment." And another banner goes with it!

I'm happy with just a nomination - for two of my stories! Very neat. Who knows what'll happen!

The good news is, I've been busy writing a story, and the end is in sight! I'll post when it's finished.

I've posted a new story! It's at several locations, including HASA, Stories of Arda, and ff.net. But for your reading pleasure, since it's short, I'll post a link here.

Title: Aragorn's Moment
Summary: In FotR, we read: “Their farewells had been said in the great hall by the fire, and they were only waiting now for Gandalf, ... Bilbo huddled in a cloak stood silent on the doorstep beside Frodo. Aragorn sat with his head bowed to his knees; only Elrond knew fully what this hour meant to him.” I have always wondered what Tolkien meant by that line: what did that hour, that moment mean to Aragorn? What was going through his head? What did Elrond know that no other did? This vignette is my interpretation of the moment.

Thanks, once again, to beta-extraordinaire, Thundera Tiger! Couldn't do this without you!

I gave in and did this - it was fun! Although, I had to do it twice, since my browser kept *quitting* without asking. :-p

So glad I got Farscape both times! The MOST underrated show! And they would have to be the most interesting crew to travel with - if only because you'd never suffer from boredom or complacency! Babylon 5 and Deep Space Nine are questionable, if only b/c I rarely if ever watched them. Glad to see the Nebuchadnezzar there, though that would be a rough ride. And yay for SG-1! Not bad overall. Though I'm glad to see Enterprise was so low on the list. I only ever watched the first 15 min. of that one, refused to see anymore.

Thanks, Thundera!

You scored as Moya (Farscape). You are surrounded by muppets. But that is okay because they are your friends and have shown many times that they can be trusted. Now if only you could stop being bothered about wormholes.

I've edited this now to properly post the vignette using the "lj cut." Nothing else has changed.

Left in the Dark

She stepped through her round door and allowed herself a moment to stare at the hill, the road that led to the Mill and to Hobbiton, and then the horizon. She let her believe for just a minute that a pony would soon clamber up the lane. Or perhaps he would be on foot. Yes, he would be on foot. A bit disheveled, likely, from whatever adventures he had gone through. He would stride surefooted if weary right to her front door. And he would smile and say, “I’m home.” Samwise would return to her. Rosie was sure of it.

Ah, finally, I've managed to write for another entry. I didn't quite see that this was supposed to be a drabble until it was rather late, so this is longer than it should be. And not a terrific piece of writing, I'm afraid, but I wanted to write something, especially because it was Thundera Tiger's birthday this week - and this is for her!!! Happy Birthday, Thundera!
